Program dates: May 26-June 22, 2018

Courses offered:

ARCH 212: The Architecture of Carlo Scarpa / Theory and Practice (3) (HU) This will be a survey course in which we will visit several Venetian architect’s most famous works. We will meet with the architects who worked with Scarpa and completed his unfinished projects after his accidental death in 1978. Students will be able to see firsthand his now famous drawings. The course will explore the thematic principles behind Scarpa’s work and their origins.

ARCH 211: Architectural Drawing (3) (ND) This course will utilize several different architectural drawing techniques to study aspects of architecture from the analysis of the piazza to architecture in detail. Students will employ ink drawing techniques that Professor Viscardi has developed to develop a “visual journal”. These drawings will act as a way of understanding how Italians use their public spaces and as a way of seeing the Italian urban landscape as well as supplement our study and analysis of the works of Carlo Scarpa.
